Description
Come and experience one of our most impressive tours on the island of Lanzarote, with 4 of the most popular points: the Timanfaya National Park, Mirador del Río, Jameos del Agua and the Cave of the Greens, created by the famous César Manrique
We begin our tour with a visit to Timanfaya, featuring its vast lava fields and geothermal experiments; next, we head north to the Mirador del Río, which offers an impressive panoramic view of La Graciosa. We conclude the tour by visiting the Jameos del Agua and the Cueva de los Verdes, both of which boast breathtaking landscapes, before retracing the coastal route to return to our accommodation.
Timanfaya National Park
During this excursion, we will head directly to the Timanfaya National Park, the second most visited national park in Spain and one of the most spectacular landscapes along the western coast of the island of Lanzarote—a fascinating realm of volcanic nature. Within the reserve, we will be able to observe a wide variety of geological phenomena and experience the geothermal demonstrations offered by this unique setting.
The absence of vegetation, the roughness of all the structures and the diversity of colors, together with the silhouette of the volcanoes and the steep coast, give the park an extraordinary beauty, while an apocalyptic vision of the environment that will not leave us indifferent
We will make a stop at Hilario Islet, from where we can catch a bird's-eye view of the vast sea of lava—spanning approximately two hundred square kilometers—upon which dozens of craters rise. It is a scene worthy of being immortalized, and it will become a cherished part of our memories.
We will visit El Diablo, a very special restaurant where we will be served dishes prepared using a very natural oven. The restaurant is a futuristic, circular building; its glass walls provide natural lighting and also serve as a viewing platform from which diners can enjoy the spectacular lunar landscape. This unique venue offers us traditional Canarian cuisine, prepared with a rather peculiar energy source: geothermal heat. It is a one-of-a-kind experience, provided by Mother Earth, allowing us to savor dishes prepared on a grill placed over a hole in the floor.
Waters Caves
We will also visit the Jameos del Agua, the first art and culture center created by César Manrique. It is a volcanic cave located inside a tunnel formed by the eruptions of the Volcán de la Corona. The artist leads us into a reflective space dedicated specifically to nature—an atmosphere of tranquility and magic. Within the cave itself lies an impressive natural lake, a true work of art and refined taste by an artist capable of transforming lava galleries and caves into fantastical underground pathways, an auditorium, and even a volcanic museum.
Let's learn about the history of Blue Lake, which was formed by seepage of sea water in volcanic caves. This phenomenon formed a micro-ecosystem where some species little known to us live
We will discover the albino crab, a small, blind crustacean that has lost its coloration and its ability to see due to the absence of light. This species is common on the island of Lanzarote, where it inhabits only the Jameos del Agua, making it critically endangered. It is regarded as a symbol of this island.
Cave of the Greens
On this journey, we will explore La Cueva de los Verdes, located in Haría, in the northern part of Lanzarote Island. This site is integrated into the impressive tunnel formed by the Volcán de la Corona—the largest volcano on Earth. Its over six kilometers of galleries connect the volcano's crater with the sea. A fascinating underwater section spanning nearly two kilometers is known to all as the "Túnel de la Atlántida." It is worth noting that La Cueva de los Verdes and the Jameos del Agua are situated within the same cavern, allowing visitors to admire the beauty of both formations on the same day.
Venturing into this cave and descending to the heart of the earth will evoke both a mystical and inexplicable sensation. We will cross into a world entirely unknown to us. Served as a refuge for the local population against attacks by pirates from North Africa, this descent will become a unique and irreplicable experiment—a feat we owe to the designer Jesús Soto.
Inside, we will visit the auditorium and several distinctive areas: the Hall of the Beauties, the Gorge of Death, and the Purple Door. We will be able to observe and document the famous effigies and the markings that indicate the levels of lava that flowed many years ago.
River Viewpoint
We will continue our journey to visit the Mirador del Río, one of the most distinctive architectural creations of the artist César Manrique—a viewpoint from which we can enjoy one of the most spectacular panoramic views of the Canary Islands: the Chinijo Archipelago Natural Park and the Famara Risco. It is a unique and unforgettable experience that you will soon forget.
