The Canary Islands are a land where ravines are a prominent feature of their geography. However, it is in Tenerife, in its northern region, that these types of geological features constitute a natural landscape found in few other places, shaping the finest hiking trails in the Masca ravine.

This activity is highly demanding due to the challenging nature of its route; therefore, it is recommended that all hiking enthusiasts in good physical condition participate in it.

The route will begin with a short walk around the hamlet that is located in the highest area of the Masca hiking route to later face the most beautiful and spectacular part of the route, the descent towards the Masca ravine

The route spans approximately 10 km round trip, with an estimated duration of about 6.5 hours. After descending continuously, the path leads us to a paradisiacal cove in the vicinity of the Los Gigantes cliffs, at an altitude of 450 meters.

Here, we can enjoy a few minutes of rest, have a light snack to recharge, and then head toward the return journey. At this point, the route begins to present its challenges, as we will start ascending the same route we previously descended, accumulating a certain elevation gain, given that the altitude ranges from 0 meters at the beach to 600 meters above sea level.

This route takes approximately 6.5 hours, including 3 hours of descent and 3.5 hours of ascent.

What is the price of the hiking trail?: The price is €30 per adult and €15 for children under 13 years of age.

Is this route very difficult?: Yes, this route has a high difficulty level; therefore, it is not recommended for children under 12 years of age and is only recommended for individuals in good physical condition.

What is necessary to bring?: It is necessary to bring the DNI or Passport, clothing and mountain shoes with a good drawing on the sole to avoid slipping, water (about 2 liters), picnic and hiking poles

What needs to be brought?: If any of the requirements—such as equipment standards or necessary documentation—are not met, the trail access control personnel (TRAGSA) will deny access, and the refund will not be processed. Please consider the type of footwear you are using, ensuring it is mountain-appropriate and features adequate tread on the sole.
Important Notice: To undertake this route, you must request the access permits managed by Camino de Masca; therefore, you will need to wait approximately 72 hours for confirmation of these permits.
Important Notice: Should the reservation fail to be confirmed, an alternative date will be offered; if an alternative date cannot be agreed upon, a full refund of the amount paid will be provided.
What happens if I am unable to complete the trail?: If our guide determines that someone is experiencing any difficulty while continuing the entire route, for safety reasons, they will be instructed to return to the starting point, where they will be provided with water and food. Furthermore, their return will be coordinated by notifying the trail monitoring staff at various points along the route, so that the rest of the group can continue their journey.
Minimum registration requirement: Current prices apply for groups of at least 5 adults; if this minimum is not met, we will notify you at least one day in advance, allowing you to select another date, a different activity, request a refund, or participate in the activity, subject to a minimum cost of €150.

The meeting point is in the Plaza del Caserío de Masca at 10:00

There are very few parking spaces in Caserío, so we recommend using public transportation to avoid arriving late and missing your reservation. If you are coming from northern Tenerife, we suggest taking line 355 at 09:35 from Buenavista del Norte; if you are coming from the south, you should take the same line at 09:15 from Santiago del Teide.

The courtesy waiting time at the meeting point is 10 minutes.

Please note that line 355 has very limited capacity; therefore, we recommend that you board at the stops well in advance.
